Fran’s Freebies: Alphabet Match

This Fran’s Freebies printable activity set called Alphabet Match is easy to print and use for preschoolers ages 3 to 5.

Included in this printable packet:

  • 3-page playing board with one picture and picture name for each letter of the alphabet
  • 26 playing cards with the same picture and the upper- and lower-case letter

To play, simply lay out all cards around the board or shuffle as a deck.  Allow a single player to match cards one at a time to the board, or take turns drawing and matching cards for multiple players.

Using the skill of simple picture matching, young children can learn the order and the names of the letters of the alphabet simply by hearing the adult leader repeat the letter names as cards are picked up and placed.  Have players repeat each letter name after they place it, and point out the letter at the beginning of each word on the board as they match it.  After all cards are placed, sing the alphabet song while pointing to each letter.

Thank you very much for taking the time to pull together all the info that a spectrum parent could use without too much hunting.

This site I am sure will be very helpful for me as I help my son gain writing skills.
