Available for free on this site only: Cats & Kittens activity set and spelling games
Sometimes it can be difficult to remember if a word starts with a C or a K. But there is a little spelling rule which everyone can use for help, and which can be practiced by playing this cute little game.
The rule is simply that MOST of the time, K comes before i and e, and C before the other 3: a, o, and u.
This set contains a one-page playing board with spaces for ki, ke, ca, co, and cu words, plus 45 playing cards in 3 styles: whole words, words with the first letter missing, and pictures accompanying the word with the first letter missing.
Included are ideas for at least 3 different activities and games to do with this set. Just regarding the cards alone, the simplest way to play is to put each card on its space containing its first two letters, thereby making a visual connection between, say K and i.
Other ideas are given for using the missing letter cards – the most straightforward being to simply use them as flashcards, asking participants to tell which letter is missing to correctly spell the word.
